Sprauge's Girlfriend"
Arlene was born in Chicago and started acting when she
was 8 years old. She studied at the prestigious Goodman Theatre before
making her way to New York City where she studied with Uta Hagen, Lee
Strasberg, and Sanford Meisner. In her first year there, she was in her
first Broadway show, "Night Circus" with Ben Gazzara. She continued to
work on Broadway including, "Come Blow Your Horn" which ran 677
performances, "Take me Along" with Jackie Gleason and Bobby Morse and
which ran 448 performances, and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" with
Kirk Douglas.
Arlene has made hundreds of television appearances including: "Car 54,
Where Are You?", "The Flying Nun", "The Andy Griffith Show", "The Big
Valley", "Get Smart", "I Spy", "That Girl", "The Mary Tyler Moore Show",
"M*A*S*H", "All in the Family", "Barnaby Jones", "Maude", "Alice", "The
Rockford Files", "One Day at a Time", "Taxi", "Fantasy Island", "The
Love Boat", "Benson", "Murder, She Wrote", "Valerie", and "Matlock". She
was also a series regular on "Kitty Foyle", "It's about Time", "Speed
Buggy", "Joe and Valerie", and as "Millie Swanson" on "Mayberry R.F.D"
and "The Andy Griffith Show".
Arlene also has made thirty films including, "Love with a Proper
Stranger", "Penelope" directed by Arthur Hiller, "Hang 'em High" with
Clint Eastwood, "Airport '77", "The In-Laws" with Peter Falk and Allen
Arkin, and "The End of Innocence" directed by Dyan Cannon. Arlene has
taught acting for ten years. She is happily married and has a very
handsome Airdale named Winston.
Bettter know to TAGS fans as "Millie", "Howard Sprauge's" girlfriend,
Arlene is taking part in her first "Andy Griffith Show" event in more
